| Mission |
| Founded in 1997 by Dr. N. Ranganathan
and Dr. Jack Dickstein. Kibow develops new technology
and pioneering products to provide symptomatic
relief for, and may help to slow the progression of chronic
kidney failure (CKF). The company has since extended
its mission to possibly delay the onset of atherosclerotic
cardiovascular disease as it is related to obesity,
high blood pressure, high blood sugar and other
metabolic disorders. |

| "Kibow" means hope |
| It is a coincidence, but a meaningful
coincidence, that in Japanese, Kibow means hope.
Kibow certainly strives to bring hope to millions
of uremic and metabolic syndrome patients throughout
the world. Our name originates from Kibow's application
of enteric dialysis, the technique of substituting
part of the kidney's function, as in "Ki",
with the bowel function, as in "bow". |
| |
| Pioneering Breakthrough products |
|
After years of
research, Kibow Biotech Inc. has developed Kibow
Biotics®, a patented proprietary probiotic
which is the basis of the company's gut-based uremia toxin removal technology tradenamed "enteric dialysis".
|
According
to members of a National Institute of Health
study, Kibow's patented dietary supplement, "offers
hope of delaying the need for dialysis by decreasing
the uremic toxins." (NIH reviewers critique
on our SBIR grant award in 2003)
|
| A veterinary formulation for
kidney failure companion animals was introduced
in 2005 and Kibow is now initiating clinical trials
on a similar cost-effective, non-invasive product
for kidney failure patients. In addition, Kibow
will soon offer a range of clinically tested, dietary
supplements intended for patients suffering from
metabolic syndrome, a frequent precursor to atherosclerotic
cardiovascular conditions. A geriatric formulation,
to help maintain healthy intestinal flora in the
elderly, will also be available. |
| |
| The immediate future |
| As our veterinary sales continue to develop and
as the launch of our metabolic syndrome products
approaches rapidly, recruitment for clinical trials
for Kibow Biotics® for uremic syndrome
has begun in the US and in Canada. Kibow is now
actively seeking partners to help accelerate the
company’s growth. |
